Sustainable Energy Designs

At State Renewable Energy, we aim to expand the use of our reoccurring and abundant natural resources in both urban and rural settings.  We design customized renewable energy systems for residential, commercial, and industrial applications.  Our systems incorporate technologies such as solar power, wind power, energy storage systems, fuel cells, and biofuels in order to support sustainable growth.  Each project begins with an energy assessment and consultation to establish the primary energy goals that need to be achieved.  Then we design the system, creating 3D models and virtual simulations of the project, while carefully selecting the materials from our network of manufacturers and distributors.  Whether for an existing building, new construction, or even a citywide infrastructure, we will design a customized system that integrates the right components.

Distributed Energy refers to the generation of electricity through small generation sources located close to where it will be used.  Most electricity is generated far away from its place of use.  When electricity has to travel long distances through many transmission lines, much of the usable electricity gets lost along the way.  Generating electricity locally reduces wasted electricity and also supports the utility grid when it is overburdened, especially during peak demand times.  Using clean, renewable energy is a sustainable way to generate distributed electricity.


Sustainable Development is an essential component of planning for the future expansion and energy needs of an area.  The objective of sustainable development is to increase productivity while reducing resource consumption and environmental damage.  This includes implementing methods such as energy efficiency, water conservation, and clean, renewable energy production.  In areas where resources are becoming strained, it will be necessary to implement sustainable development practices in order to allow for the success of future growth.


Before beginning a renewable energy project, a Resource Analysis of the renewable resources available in the area should be made. Data is calculated to determine the best use of renewable energy technology based upon location and environmental specifications.  Also, innovative technologies can be added to many forms of renewable energy to increase their electrical output, allowing them to be used in locations with less abundance of a specific renewable resource.  It is beneficial to understand the available resources of an area and how they can be effectively integrated into a sustainability plan.


It is necessary to understand the energy usage of an area during the developmental stages of an energy project. Energy Management refers to the management of how energy gets used by the consumer, especially in reference to peak demand times.  Through management, the usage of energy can be structured efficiently to reduce the overall amount of energy needed at different times throughout the day.  Through onsite energy production and energy efficiency, energy consumption can be significantly reduced, which also reduces the burden experienced by utility power grids.


Designing Sustainability

At State Renewable Energy, we create working 3D models of every project and analyze various scenarios in this virtual environment to develop the design.  These scaled models and simulations enable us to provide comprehensive consultation services.  They also allow us to accurately display projects before construction and easily make design adjustments if necessary.

Solar Electricity Designs

Our solar power designs begin with an assessment of solar potential, optimal solar orientation, and system equipment options.  This video shows an example of a green building that features a solar electric system mounted in a variety of ways.  It also describes the system's components, as well as highlights how different features of the building may affect or contribute to the solar electric system needs.  We take these factors into consideration with every project we design.  

Wind Power Designs

We begin our wind energy designs by analyzing the potential of the site, allowing us to determine what wind technology will be best suited for its location.  Our 3D modeling process allows us to experiment with different technologies and where to install the turbines.  With pole-mounted turbines, the higher the turbine, the more wind energy it will capture.  Not every situation is suited for wind.  However, when viable, wind has the potential to provide electricity at all hours of the day.

Hydrogen Fuel Cell Technology

When requested, we can design energy storage systems that use hydrogen fuel cell technology. These energy storage systems can use renewable energy to create hydrogen, through electrolysis, that can be stored and then later used as the fuel to power a hydrogen fuel cell.  This animation shows this process on a molecular level.  Hydrogen atoms are split at the anode, allowing the electrons to be used while the protons pass through an electrolyte.  They eventually rejoin at the cathode where they are met with oxygen atoms to form water, the byproduct of this process.
